Tiki’s lost friends: A consulting Adventure

This one was a BLAST to help put together. Ciara approached me needing a little bit of assistance with a birthday surprise. Every year her friends always surprise her for her birthday and this year she wanted to surprise them!

Since she had a parrot named Tiki, she wanted the entire adventure to be from him.

Here’s how it went down:

Can you spot the bird in the picture?

Friends Arrive

It started when all of her friends arrived for Saturday brunch. Apparently, Ciara had a tendency to make impromptu speeches at gatherings. Her friends knew this. But she was ready. Midway through the brunch, her friends started chanting “Speech!”

She stood up. The room fell silent. The Adventure commenced!

Forming teams

Participants were instructed to check the invitations they’d received. In the middle of the invitation was a star. The color of the star dictated teams. Did you notice anything else special about the invitation? The Bird on the invitation were holding little letters. Once teams were formed, each player found the letter hidden in their invitation and unscrambled the word to get the initial password: TIKI

Once the correct password was given, teams were given a map and a satchel full of supplies and goodies (and shooters)

Then they were off!

The Adventure

The goal: 13 small colorful (fake) birds were hidden around the neighborhood. (could you imagine how brutally difficult this would be if they were real?) Teams were tasked with finding as many birds as possible and take a selfie with said Bird. They would text in the picture and be awarded points.

Different birds were worth different points depending on how hard they were to find. Every time a team sent in a selfie with one of the birds, they were awarded points.

There were three types of birds

Common birds were marked on the map and relatively easy to find. They were worth one point.

Rare birds were also marked in the map, but you needed to solve a puzzle to figure out their exact location. They were worth two points.

Legendary birds involved two steps to find. Teams had to travel to an area in the map and find a missing bird poster. One missing bird poster had a phone number, one had a QR code, and one had an email. When you called the number, scanned the QR code or sent the email, You got the clues to find the legendary bird in another location. Those birds were worth three points.

Every few points, teams would get a new clue to get to the finish line.

Once teams got enough clues, they sent in the password to Ciara and she told them to go to Pops bar as the finish line.

All in all, it was a fantastic adventure that the players loved, and only caused Ciara a little bit of stress as a few things fell out of place the night before. She did an incredible job, putting this whole thing together, and her friends told her she should do this as a profession.

Chris is absolutely the reason I had the best birthday of my 29 years on this planet! I came to Chris having no idea how to set up a scavenger hunt for 12 of my closest friends, but through consult calls and his amazing organization we were able to pull it off! Chris was incredibly responsive when things went “wrong” (amazon orders getting messed up etc.) and helped talk me down when I was feeling anxious and hyping me up. Thank you so much Chris
