I helped plan our company teambuilding event. We had the vision for a pirate themed treasure hunt around Tampa to bring in the Tampa theme of Gasparilla. After finding Chris on YouTube and getting about 80% done with the plan ourselves, I decided to call Chris to ensure that we had the right amount of difficulty to fun worked into the game, so that it was an enjoyable experience for everyone. With only a week to go, Chris made time to meet with me several times leading up to the event and with his help this event far exceeded anyone's expectations. Chris turned what was becoming a somewhat stressful process into a fun and engaging process from planning until the end of the hunt. Everything worked out just the way we wanted and was so much fun! Most of all, Chris was able to help us plan things to suit our needs and vision and also avoid mistakes in our planning. I wanted to to do something different and meaningful to celebrate my 40th birthday and I didn’t want to have just a regular party.  So I came up with the idea to do a Random Acts of Kindness Scavenger Hunt.  I have never done this before but figured it would be a cool opportunity for my family and friends to do some things that I would do on an ordinary day. 

So I scouted out Berkeley found places that’s made sense and began putting together  the scavenger hunt. Then I got stuck, I had all the places and Random Acts but I couldn’t figure out how to make the scavenger hunt connect and I only had 1 month left to figure it out. That’s when I did a google search and found Constructed Adventures and Chris Waters, who helped me finish creating the most epic Random Acts of Kindness Scavenger Hunt ever. 

Chris responded to my inquiry for assistance immediately and I hired him as a consultant.  He was so helpful and went above and beyond as if the event was for his own party.  He gave ideas and suggestions and really brought to life the ideas that were in my head, and he added components to the hunt I would’ve never come up with.  I was more excited after every call with him.  He was so reassuring and fun to work with and I knew once I connected with him everything was going to be fine.  Not to mention his birthday was the day before mine, which made working with him even more incredible!

I also appreciated his character and integrity, I was ready to pay to build a new adventure if necessary,  but he told me since I had already put so much together and I was pretty much done it would make more sense for him to help me as a consultant.  

Furthermore, Chris was so committed to the success of my event he spoke to me even on his own vacation, his kindness, commitment and support to ensure this scavenger hunt was successful was absolutely extraordinary! 

My family and friends loved the event and had an experience they will never forget.

When California first shutdown due to COVID-19 in mid-March, my girlfriend and I, both seniors in college at UC Berkeley, each went back home to our families. I wanted to do something special for her to make the distance feel shorter and the days more exciting.

I reached out to Chris with an idea: a puzzle or small adventure every few days for a few weeks, just to spice things up.

Right off the bat, I was truly charmed by Chris, but I will admit that I was a bit hesitant about the price. Given that there were so many limitations, store and park closures, and precautions we had to factor in, how was this adventure even going to work? However, the more we talked to more I seemed to realize how amazing the experience we could build would be, the memories it would make for my girlfriend and I, and the joy that it would bring into her life. Soon, Chris and I were bouncing ideas off of one other, and within half an hour I went from being worried that I didn't have enough ideas to being worried that I wouldn't be able to fit all of our ideas into our master plan.

In every phone call that I had with Chris, I was blown away by his charm, creativity, and genuine care for his work. Above all, he wanted my girlfriend (and me!) to have the best experience possible. He handed the reins over to me where he felt that I was capable, and he took over when it was clear that his experience would be key. It was a delicate balance, and he absolutely nailed it.

The same could be said for the actual hunt itself. For the very first of our seven "gambits," a local coffee shop played an integral role. When I called a few hours ahead of her scheduled visit to confirm that everything was good to go, they weren't picking up the phone. I was panicking that things were going to fall through, but Chris took the reins for a moment and came to the rescue. Chris had a friend in the area, and so he had her swing by to check up on things. All was well, but having the peace of mind that the first gambit was going to play out well was invaluable.

In the end, everything went incredibly smoothly, and I am so thankful that I had Chris in my back pocket. He helped me to build upon many of my ideas, which transformed the experience for my girlfriend from good to great. His experience, expertise, and creativity is truly second to none. The smile on my girlfriend's face throughout and the memories that were made were truly priceless.

Big shoutout to Chris for helping me with my scavenger hunt proposal! I used his hourly consultation calls and it was definitely worth it. He is full of great puzzles and adventures ideas and is completely flexible to your wants and needs. He can operate as the main brain behind the entire adventure or as an extension of your own ideas by providing as much or as little help as you desire.
